FIGHTING FIRES WHERE THEY START

The AMFE Pro Cert as a VdS-approved fire extinguishing system

The AMFE (Automatic Mini Fire Extinguisher Unit) is a small extinguishing device that can be combined with one of our fire extinguishing control centres to create an innovative fire extinguishing system.

The extinguishing system offers reliable and cost-efficient fire protection for your switch cabinet, electrical distribution board, and electrical systems! If a technical fault occurs in an electrical device, the AMFE can detect, and extinguish the fire as well as prevent re-ignition.

The extinguishing agent used, FK-5-1-12, also known by the brand name of Novec™ 1230, removes the heat from the fire, thus stopping the combustion reaction. As it is electrically non-conductive and evaporates without leaving any residue, there is no secondary damage.

Connection to any commercially available fire alarm system is guaranteed by compliance with DIN EN 54-2 so that our extinguishing system can be integrated into your existing infrastructure. As a certified AMFE partner of JOB GmbH, Meister Brandschutz GmbH & Co. KG is always available to answer any questions that you may have.

The AMFE has VdS approval. In combination with the Hekatron fire extinguishing centre as the "Amfe Pro Cert" extinguishing system, it has VdS system approval. These certifications also guarantee recognition by your property insurer.

How the AMFE works

The thermoglass sprinkler bulb integrated into the mounted trigger head breaks when a defined trigger temperature is exceeded, activating a spring mechanism which releases the cylinder with the extinguishing agent.

As this is a mechanical release, neither a power supply nor a control unit are required.

The sprinkler cylinder has a metallic coating and can therefore be connected to any standard fire alarm system coupler for fire alarm detection.

With the optional use of a fire extinguishing control centre, we enable the integration of various fire detection systems such as smoke detectors or a smoke aspiration system for smouldering fire detection/extinction.

AMFE

The AMFE(AUTOMATICMINI FIRE EXTINGUISHING UNIT) is an independent, thermally or electrically triggered fire extinguishing/small fire extinguishing unit used for preventive fire protection in switch cabinets, server cabinets and vending machines in escape routes.

Release heads

The AMFE can be triggered in two ways. Thermally or electrically.

With thermal release, a thermoglass sprinkler bulb is integrated into the release head. When a defined temperature is exceeded, the bulb bursts and activates a spring mechanism. This opens the extinguishing agent cylinder. The pressurised extinguishing agent is released.

In the case of electrical activation or remote activation, the thermodynamic bulb receives its activation impulse from a higher-level fire alarm system, the fire extinguishing control centre. The bulb is triggered by 24 VDC via the coil coating of the thermodynamic bulb. Several AMFEs can be connected in series with the electrical remote release. Produktbild 2

How the bulb works

Triggering mechanism:
When the thermoglass bulb bursts, this activates a spring mechanism that opens the extinguishing agent cylinder. The pressurised extinguishing agent is released. Produktbild 3

Pressure gauge

The cylinder can be used with a pressure gauge (VdS-certified version) or without a pressure gauge.
The use of the extinguishing agent cartridge without a pressure gauge fulfils the standards and guidelines of
  • ISO 14520
  • DIN EN 15004
  • NFPA 2001
with pressure gauge
  • VdS 2381 Produktbild 4

Extinguishing agent

The cylinder is filled with the extinguishing liquid, FK-5-1-12, also known by the brand name of Novec™ 1230, and is mechanically sealed during the manufacturing process. When it escapes, the extinguishing agent changes into a gaseous state and can therefore extinguish even concealed sources of fire immediately by removing the heat from the fire and thus stopping the combustion reaction.

In contrast to water, foam, or powder extinguishing agents, FK-5-1-12 (clean agent) virtually eliminates secondary damage as the extinguishing agent is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive. It leaves no residue and can easily be removed from the room by ventilation. Furthermore, it is completely harmless to humans as there is no oxygen displacement. Produktbild 5

Cartridge sizes

The AMFE is available in different sizes for different protection volumes.
  • 6 different cartridge sizes for volumes from 0.046 m³ to 1.149 m³
  • Service life of 10 years from commissioning
  • Temperature application limits from 65°C to 100°C depending on the version
  • Supplement fire protection concepts: simple and flexible retrofitting possible at any time!
