Electrical systems are indispensable in many areas, but they are also potential sources of fire. A short circuit, overheating or a malfunction can quickly lead to a fire that spreads rapidly and can have devastating consequences. To prevent or fight such fires, there is the AMFE mini extinguishing system from Meister Brnadschutz GmbH & Co KG.
The AMFE stands for Automatic Mini Fire Extinguishing Unit and is an innovative fire protection solution specially designed for closed enclosures such as switch cabinets, electrical distribution boards or electrical appliances. The AMFE consists of a trigger unit, which is activated at a certain temperature, and an extinguishing fluid that fights the fire effectively and without leaving any residue. The extinguishing fluid is FK-5-1-12, also known under the brand name Novec™ 1230, which leaves no harmful residues and does not pollute the environment.
The AMFE offers numerous advantages over conventional fire extinguishing systems. It is easy to install, easy to maintain and cost-effective. It detects and extinguishes the fire in a closed housing, thus preventing the fire from spreading and damaging the surrounding installations. It not only protects the electrical installations, but also the people working or staying in the vicinity.
The AMFE can also be networked with the multialert® system, which enables cascaded triggering of several AMFEs and forwards an alarm to higher-level systems. The multialert® system can also integrate smoke detectors that can recognise and extinguish smouldering fires when smoke develops. The multialert® system thus offers comprehensive fire protection for clearly defined areas, such as switch cabinet lines.
The AMFE is VdS-certified and complies with the current guidelines for small extinguishing devices. It is already being used successfully in various sectors, such as logistics, the automotive industry, fluid technology and in the home. The AMFE is the ideal fire protection solution for anyone who wants to protect their electrical systems safely and efficiently.
